Arsenal fans are getting pumped about Alex Iwobi again, and it’s clear to see why. This young man has a fantastic opportunity to fit everything into place.

I feel like I’m catching up on lost time with how much I’ve been gushing over Alex Iwobi lately, but things really are falling in place for him and his career at Arsenal and, more than that, he now has the ability to fit even more things in place with his own abilities. If you needed more proof, just check out his latest evidence against Qarabag.

For how “fabulous” the Fab Four/Fab Five is, there has been a lot of questioning just how reliable they can be. Well, not the entirely of them, but over half. Aaron Ramsey is supposedly leaving, Mesut Ozil is as inconsistent and unreliable as ever and Mkhitaryan remains a wild card if ever there was one.

Aubameyang, meanwhile, depends on service from someone and while his partnership with Lacazette is a beautiful thing, it remains isolated if there is no help in behind them. And that’s where Alex Iwobi comes into the picture.

With all the hesitancy around the attacking midfield, Alex Iwobi stands out as a man who can fix it all and help it all fall into place for now, and for the future.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

The young Nigerian has been on a tear in recent performances, with his confidence brimming and his ability shining bright. But he has yet to break into a reliable starting position, given the star power that is blocking the way.

If Iwobi can rise to the challenge and claim a starting role, then suddenly, everything is so much easier to swallow. It takes the sting out of Ramsey’s exit, it dulls the need for Ozil to do more than the is doing and Mkhitaryan can remain as he is, a wild card.

Then there is Aubameyang who, if Iwobi continues clicking, will find plenty of service from him.

It also takes care of the problem of longevity. Ozil, Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang are all 30 or about to turn 30, and there isn’t a lot behind them, especially if Ramsey leaves.

But Iwobi is something, and that something can turn into even more if he continues on the trajectory that he finds himself on again.

From there, factor in Reiss Nelson, Emile Smith Rowe and an oncoming winger like Nicolas Pepe and suddenly this creative attacking force got a lot younger, a lot faster, and, hopefully, a lot less wobbly.
