Arsenal’s ongoing Aaron Ramsey saga seems to have been decided, but surely he’s worth paying just to avoid one harmful potential future.

In case you were wondering, yes, I’m growing incredibly tired of writing about Aaron Ramsey and his ongoing Arsenal contract saga. The story has changed so many times in the past five or so months that it’s really not worth dwelling on for long.

And even with it being “resolved” that he will leave, there are still stories swirling that nothing is as it seems, that Ramsey could still stay, that he could do this or that or the other thing and at the end of the day, all we know is that tensions are high, but both parties would ideally like to stay together.

The theory that Ramsey just wants to be paid for his services makes sense. Especially seeing as how Ozil is making a crap ton of money to do… not a lot. Meanwhile Ramsey is leading the team in assists and he’s making about half of what the German is.

If the club truly is unwilling to pay Ramsey what he’s worth, then they have to face what happens next. He has spent his entire career in the Premier League, he deserves to be at the top tier of world football, and without a say in the matter, it would make sense if Ramsey chose to go to a direct rival if they can’t lock him down.

Which is motivation enough to just pay the man.

We had just started getting over seeing Arsenal players sold to direct rivals when Olivier Giroud was sold to Chelsea and Alexis Sanchez was sold to United. The former is doing more than a bit better than the latter, but it still sucks to see it happen.

I don’t want to see one of our most dynamic players suiting up anywhere else in England bu the Emirates. Ramsey is a destroyer, and he’s proven that in over a decade with the club. He isn’t like Alexis, who was on a downward spiral already.

Ramsey will thrive if he finds a team that makes him feel valued, and that’s what scares me into this idea of just paying the man so he can’t be used against us.

Of course, if you pay him, then you also get the benefit of having a prolific midfielder at the prime of his career, which is also a pretty cool feature.
