Arsenal need wingers, and Cengiz Under is a winger, but there is one big question that has to be asked if he is going to be signed.

Arsenal‘s situation at winger is being brushed under the rug amidst the successful run that the club is on, but at some point, it is going to have to be revisited. Reiss Nelson provides one long-term solution that, ideally, will be ready to start taking shape come the start of next season, but in the meantime, he is still just one man for two positions.

And a young man, at that, one that I can’t imagine will be thrust right into contention for the starting XI (though it’d be just fine if he was).

The links are incoming, with all the possible winger targets out there being tied to a move to the Emirates, and the next name to make a splash on the radar is 21-year-old Turkish winger Cengiz Under.

Currently at Roma, the Turk has made such a big impact that the asking price being reported is an unfriendly £52 million, which means we have to step away from justifying the move as a point of logic and move into justifying the move for the budget.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Supposedly, the Gunners are only being handed a £40 million budget for this coming summer, meaning that whatever happens in winter likely won’t be a big haul, like Under would have to be, given the supposed price tag.

Under is a solid asset to invest in. He isn’t reckless or out of control, he doesn’t lose the ball much, and he passes well. Factor in the fact that he is not afraid to have a pop at goal and he shapes up to be the kind of winger we would want.

But again, that price tag is unfriendly, and the question is who is going to make way to help the club afford it, since apparently we just don’t have the money.

It is always possible that Aaron Ramsey could be sold off, if all of this jabbering about staying until the end of the year proves inconsequential.

It’s great that the Gunners are still shopping around for wingers, I truly love that, as it shows that they are aware of their biggest deficiencies, but the figures are unrealistic right now unless we start talking about potential exits.

Frankly, anyone who is anyone won’t be sold, and the deadweight that still has value can go on and get, for all I care. So let’s make this happen.
