Arsenal have recently been linked with Liverpool’s out of favor left-back, Alberto Moreno. Though it may only be a rumor this should worry Sead Kolasinac.

When Sead Kolasinac joined Arsenal from FC Schalke on a free transfer in 2017, it seemed as though the Gunners had managed to pull off a miracle signing. However, the Bosnian left-back has picked up numerous injuries since joining the club and has lost his position to an aging, Nacho Monreal.

Since Kolasniac joined the club, Monreal completely changed and became arguably the most consistent player in the squad.

In fact, many feel as though the player of the season award was wrongfully given to Aaron Ramsey when it should have been given to Mr. Consistent. Kolasinac will have to begin putting in better performances if he wants any chance at putting the rumors of Alberto Moreno to bed.

What would Moreno bring to the table that Kolasinac doesn’t?

Similar to Kolasinac, Moreno is an “attack first” full back, which is what Unai Emery seems to prefer. However, polar opposite to the Bosnian, Moreno has an insane amount of pace that would help contribute to the reds of London’s lack of width.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

On many occasions, Kolasinac is very slow to get back and help defensively, but for some reason he is not given the same abuse that Hector Bellerin is given for having the same problem. The former Schalke man will have to improve significantly if he wants these rumors to go away and more importantly, if he wants any chance of taking the left-back position away from Monreal.

Could Moreno be a replacement for Monreal?

If Kolasinac is not the man that the papers are saying is set to be replaced with Moreno, then there is a very good chance that Monreal may be heading for the exit door instead. It is no secret that Monreal is not exactly a “spring chicken”.

At 32-years-old, a replacement is needed sooner rather than later, and there is a very strong possibility that the replacement may be the man we are currently being rumored with.

The fact of the matter is, Arsenal are reportedly interested in Moreno because he is out of contract on June 30th of 2019, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk. Liverpool are struggling to agree a new deal with the Spaniard and the Gunners are ready to pounce and attempt to get him for substantially cheaper than his transfer market value would be.

Kolasinac should definitely be worried about the possibility of the club looking for somebody who plays in a similar position, however, the more than likely scenario of the rumor (if it is actually true) is hat Moreno would be brought in to replace his fellow Spanish left-back, Monreal. Only time will tell if the rumors amount to anything and if Moreno will actually become a Gunner.
