Defence

8.0. People might want to kill him for the own goal. But that would be harsh. It was a brilliant touch by Ben Chilwell and an unfortunate flick to loop over Bernd Leno’s stranded legs. Defensively, Bellerin was much improved, helped by Leicester’s system that did not have a true winger. Offensively, the Spaniard was back to his very best. The two assists were only the start of his attacking influence, but greatly illustrate his growing threat as he bombards down that right flank.. RB. Arsenal. HECTOR BELLERIN

Arsenal. SHKODRAN MUSTAFI. 7.0. The better of the two centre-halves. Strong in the air, very good in possession, willing to step up into midfield and pierce the stubborn Leicester ranks with good, progressive passes, and dealt with Leicester’s speedy attack adeptly for much of the night. A good performance from Mustafi.. CB

ROB HOLDING. 6.0. Struggled with Leicester’s pace in the first half a little, but improved markedly in the second half, helped by the greater pressure that the front players put on Leicester, forcing errant passes up to an isolated Jamie Vardy. He is still wonderfully calm on the ball and it does help during periods of extended possession, like in the second half here.. CB. Arsenal

Perfectly solid performance by Lichsteiner. A surprise inclusion at left back, but his adept flexibility is a testament to his experience and acute understanding of the game. Didn’t do much special, but he didn’t need to.. LB. Arsenal. STEPHAN LICHTSTEINER. 6.0
