Arsenal saw the absolute best of Mesut Ozil against Leicester City, so now the question is how the hell can we make this version last forever?

Everyone lost their mind after Mesut Ozil‘s superb performance against Leicester City. He propelled Arsenal to a compelling win with arguably their best attacking prowess shown thus far into the season.

It was literally all thanks to Ozil, whose every single touch was pure gold. Every flick, every dribble, every pass was deadly and it led to all three goals in one way or another – one was scored by him, one was assisted, and one’s assist was assisted by him.

So now we have to ask the question – how can we make this version of Ozil stay around forever, in perpetuity. How do we ensure that Ozil never fades into what he has looked like earlier in this season, and retains the level of play that he put forth for 45, 50 minutes against the Foxes?

The short answer is, well, you can’t. We’ve been here before. Ozil is a magic man, but he’s not consistent. There’s no reason we should expect that to change now.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

That said, pessimism (*cough* realism *cough*) aside, The best thing that Unai Emery can do to try to keep Ozil in this fantastic form is to reinstate exactly what he built against Leicester City. As in, the exact same parameters that allowed Ozil to ascend into this higher state of being.

Those parameters being – a more central role and more responsibility. Which is literally the last thing I would have thought to give Ozil at this point, or rather the last thing I’d have wanted to give him, seeing as how he has struggled so much.

That said, with the captain’s armband and his favored No. 10 position, Ozil was the best he has ever been, even if it took him half an hour to get there.

Never before has Ozil boasted two of the most prestigious items in the starting XI, and never before have we seen Ozil this good. It may just be a coincidence, but until we know for sure, we need to throw Ozil back out into the exact same situation next time out against Crystal Palace. Armband, No. 10, and no questions asked.

This is the Ozil that I never thought we’d see consistently, let alone see again, so I’m excited to see what comes next. Ideally, more of the same.
