Arsenal: Denis Suarez for Aaron Ramsey worth digging into
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal will have a gap created by Aaron Ramsey’s exit, but Denis Suarez could be the man for the job. Or at least it’s worth digging into.
No matter how much I pledge not to talk about the inevitable Aaron Ramsey exit, I always end up back at it, jabbering about what Arsenal can do either in the meantime, or after the fact. Simply put, it’s not something that can be ignored.
Ramsey has clearly been weeded out of the starting XI, only making appearances in midweek fixtures and if a boost is needed late in Premier League matches, so it’s obviously Unai Emery’s prerogative to use him as little as possible.
That doesn’t take away form the game he will be leaving though. And while throwing around the likes of Alex Iwobi and Emile Smith Rowe as incumbents to take the role that Ramsey is going to be leaving is fun to think about, it’s also fun to think about someone who has a lot more experience, is still young, and might not cost as much as others.
That is where Denis Suarez comes into the picture. Suarez has been linked to a move to the Emirates for some time. So long that it’s probably best to just accept that he is interested in the move.

Now, the reports are indicating that he has “green lighted” a move to North London after not featuring for Barcelona like… at all.
If we want to start talking Ramsey replacements out there for purchase, Suarez provides an interesting option, even if you have to go back to his time at Valencia to see it. The guy put up five goals and 11 assists in over 3000 minutes in his last year at Valencia, before making that ill-fated trip to the Catalans.
There, he has played all of about 1700 minutes in the past three years and, at 24-years-old, he’s probably scratching his head a bit.
It would be much more appetizing to step into the shoes of Aaron Ramsey at a place he has been flirting with for years. Although, it must be taken into account how little time Ramsey is already getting, so what would Suarez’s prospects be?
Glad you asked. Emery is nothing if he isn’t a fair distributer of time. Suarez would be given every chance in the world to earn a starting job. Which is more than can be said of his time at Barca.
