Arsenal: Mohamed Elneny a success story no matter what
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal brought in Mohamed Elneny at a time when much more was expected, but through it all, everything looks to be turning out for a success.
Arsenal‘s lack of a true defensive midfielder was seemingly on the verge of being answered several January’s ago, when Arsene Wenger threw down a very minimal £5m for Mohamed Elneny, a you Egyptian midfielder from FC Basel.
It was clear from the off that Elneny’s heart was always in the right place, as he worked tirelessly to do everything that was in his power to turn a match around. It was rarely enough, as he was but one man who was built on effort, but that effort alone goes a long way.
Now, in the wake of his diminishing value, Elneny is on the verge of an Emirates exit, according to recent rumors. And while it’s rarely easy to bid players adieu, it will always be exponentially harder when that player gave everything for the club and truly loved it.
Elneny did that for the Gunners, but that doesn’t mean that a potential Elneny exit is all bad. In fact, in the event that things play out as the rumors are suggesting, it would be a massive success for all parties involved.

According to the Sun, Unai Emery will be looking for £15m to offload the 26-year-old midfielder, who has been incredibly limited in his usage this year.
It sounds a bit outlandish to expect that much from somebody who really isn’t used, but the fact of the matter is that he isn’t old, he plays with as much heart as anybody else out there, he has Premier League experience and is it too much to get what we want for a player and not undersell everyone?
As it stands, with the arrival of Guendouzi especially, Elneny has nowhere to go. Ainsley Maitland-Niles is going to be clamoring for playing time in the midfield and there just isn’t room for Elneny. But he’s proven his worth at the top-tier of world football, and there is going to be a place for him somewhere out there, where he can find playing time, be a positive contributor to a top-tier club, and make a difference. If that’s at Leicester City, then so be it, he will be great there.
In the end, if he does leave, he has made an impact here in North London, he has earned everything he has.
No one loses if we triple our profit on him while also freeing up space for younger players and giving Elneny a brighter future.
