Arsenal: Is it wrong to believe in Ousmane Dembele?
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal don’t have a chance of landing Ousmane Dembele, but with so many pieces in place, is it really so crazy to think about? It has to be, right?
Short answer? Yes. Arsenal won’t get Ousmane Dembele.
Long answer? Well, let’s talk. Because when you start stacking up all the chips that are required to make this happen, you start to see a picture that isn’t just believable, it’s plausible. Let’s start with the most obvious piece – there is a need from the Emirates and a clear line of supply from the Catalans.
Also known as, Arsenal don’t need anything more than a talented young winger and Barcelona have no further need for Ousmane Dembele, who has never settled in since his move from Borussia Dortmund.
Knock that off the checklist. Now let’s talk personal connection. Because Dembele’s best mate, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, is at the Emirates and he is loving it there. He has Mkhitaryan there, he has a new budding bromance, and he is pushing for the golden boot. That’s all something to be excited about.

Dembele has to be hearing good things from his pal in North London. Reports of young players getting their opportunity and earning their stay. Reports of just how much a winger is needed (can I belabor that point anymore?)
Okay, so check that off the list. He also has a personal connection that would make settling in easier. Much easier.
How about the connection with the men that make the decisions? Yeah, we got that too. Raul Sanllehi would have to make a deal with his old digs at Barcelona, old digs that saw him bring Dembele to the club and undoubtedly still sees him caring where Dembele goes with his career. Which could absolutely mean the Emirates.
That’s a pretty important connection to have, this trust from both sides. Check that off the list as another crucial piece of what could propel this move.
Meaning that there is only one thing that this move currently doesn’t have. And that is a realistic price. Which is literally the only thing that this potential move doesn’t have yet. Because the rumored price is around the £89m mark. Which, needless to say, isn’t something that we can wrap our heads around.
But then again, neither was Mesut Ozil’s £43m when that happened. Maybe Unai Emery can bring new horizons off the pitch as well.
