Arsenal’s thrilling win against Tottenham Hotspur ramped up a notch when Aaron Ramsey came on, so can the dialogue be reopened?

Arsenal came back from 2-1 down to thump their North London rivals by a resounding final score of 4-2. From the off, the Gunners looked up to the challenge, even though they were taking that 2-1 deficit into half, but it was the changes at half that added an extra spark.

Namely Aaron Ramsey. Ramsey was already involved in the first half, when Eric Dier decided to celebrate a bit too close to the home bench, and the Welshman was among the handful of substitutes to be found in the scrum, looking every bit the Arsenal man he has been for the past decade.

But when he came on, it was a completely different kind of involvement, and has to count among the most memorable matches from the often prolific midfielder. And yes, he has quite a few to count.

From the moment Ramsey came on, you could just feel that he was up to something, that he was going to have a huge part to play on the proceedings, and hen made sure it was impossible to miss.

His first assist was a fantastic lay-off to Aubameyang, who put a simply splendid curling, one-touch shot into the back of the net.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

And for the second assist, it was quite similar, laying it off to Lacazette to do more of the same.

Ramsey now leads the team in assists with six. He’s also tied for the Premier League lead in assists. And all despite the fact that he has only played 610 total minutes in the Premier League, with four of his six assists coming as a sub – which is a record.

Of course, he also has two goals, one in the Prem and one in the Europa, to make him quietly one of the top performers on the team, despite the fact that he is almost certainly being shown the exit door.

And yet, with what he showed against Tottenham, and with the numbers he’s putting up, not to mention the diminishing presence of Mesut Ozil, is it really all said and done? Clearly his heart is still with the club, and it probably always will be, so why not just accept that he is an asset to the club, same as he has always been, and get the deal done?

Arsene Wenger said there was hope. Of course, there’s no way he would know. But still. There has to be hope. If they were close to an agreement once, then make it close again and push it over this time.
