Apparently Mesut Ozil doesn’t want to leave Arsenal, which is great and all, but Aaron Ramsey doesn’t want to leave either, now, does he?

With Mesut Ozil‘s complete and total exclusion from the Arsenal squad against Tottenham in the North London Derby, questions were again raised regarding just what the hell is going on with him and that massive amount of money he is being paid to not play.

Just prior to starting lineup being revealed, there was a report published from The Sun (dubious), that cited a source in Germany, saying that Mesut Ozil didn’t want to leave the Emirates at all, but wanted to stay, despite the declining relevance.

Hard to argue that, given how well he is living in Germany, the money he is making, and that growing chance of winning some serious silverware, no matter how involved he ends up being in the long haul.

Rumors of a link to Inter Milan have picked up over the recent weeks, and a move to Serie A do make quite a bit of sense, especially when consider the career of Andrea Pirlo, who did nothing but pass and became a superstar.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Ozil could fit right in there. But according to that report, Ozil doesn’t want to leave. So that has to count for something, right?

Not really. Aaron Ramsey doesn’t want to leave either. He wants to sign the contract that was once there in front of him, waiting to be signed, but for whatever reason, despite his wants and his obvious merit, he’s being dealt away.

Is Ozil any different? The only real difference is that Ozil does hod the sway of having that freshly-signed contract, whereas Ramsey has no choice. If his contract isn’t renewed, he has to leave regardless.

Ozil doesn’t have that same inevitable ending, but if the club want to sell him, in all likelihood, they can. It would suck to see him become the Paul Pogba of the Emirates, eating up money while producing nothing and sitting more times than not. But what other option is there?

Maybe, just maybe, this will all blow over. Maybe his back really is that bad. But it doesn’t make sense how sparsely he is being used and how little is being said about it.

Ozil wouldn’t be the first player to steadily disappear from the spectrum before leaving entirely in a coming transfer window and he wouldn’t be the last. Now we just have to see how this all plays out.
