Arsenal were not given a chance in this one, and their defense saw to that. This was a horror show, but here are the player ratings.

Arsenal came out of this one with an intensity that gave us such a belief that maybe, just maybe, this match was going to be something other than a loss. There was passion and drive, the club looked fired up.

That culminated in a wonderfully taken goal in the 11th minute, a beautiful cross from Alex Iwobi found the outstretched Ainsley Maitland-Niles, whose first goal is certainly going to be one to remember.

That was where the fun ended, for the most part.

In the span of the next half hour, the Gunners’ defense was brutally embarrassed and proven, more than ever before, just how piss-poor they are. There were literally no positive qualities coming out of that back line as they surrendered four goals before half time.

Credit where it’s due, the Gunners didn’t quit. They wanted this match to turn into their favor and they were throwing everything they had against it. Naturally, it was never going to change the fate of this pathetic match that has to have some answers, even if that means forking up the money in January to engage in some good, old-fashioned “panic buying.”

If you can stomach them, here are the player ratings:

Goalkeeper

BERND LENO. 6.2. This poor guy. I hope that he doesn’t get the same criticism that the defense in front of him gets because, for his part, he wasn’t even that bad. I would say he was actually quite decent. He made some class saves, he handled himself on set-pieces. All things considered, this horror show has far less to do with Leno than the scoreline would suggest.. GK. Arsenal
