Arsenal aren’t going to be in desperation mode unless something truly drastic happens. Sven Mislintat leaving would be truly drastic.

Nothing that has happened thus far into Unai Emery‘s term at Arsenal should be seen as that concerning. Nothing has altered the positive path the club is headed in, nothing is irreparable, nothing has given us any indication that the club isn’t in good hands.

Everything on the pitch should be taken with a grain of salt. It’s a transition period and until we’ve transitioned, there are going to be rough patches.

The only point of contention thus far is the report of the financial situation, with Kroenke not investing any of his own money, and the club broke in the current January window, unable to swing any deals that aren’t loans. But this summer should see that concern done away with completely, with more freedom to spend.

Again – nothing to worry about. All of this stuff is business as usual for a club such as ours. No need to panic.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Okay, so let’s talk about panic. Because I hadn’t truly felt any panic until I considered the prospect of Mislintat leaving far earlier than anticipated.

No matter financial straits the club is in, I’ve never been that worried, because Mislintat is a genius who can uncover incredibly talents on the cheap. Mavropanos and Guendouzi were his first big forays into doing so with Arsenal, but give him more time and he will uncover more talents.

The Independent is reporting that Bayern Munich are confident they can snag Mislintat away from the Emirates, after the relationship between Mislintat and Sanllehi has soured very early on in the process.

This would be a massive setback for the club. Sanllehi is great to have, no doubt, but he is used to having unlimited funds. Unai Emery is getting involved in transfers too, but he, too, is used to having unlimited funds at PSG.

Mislintat understands the art of what has made this club so special in the past – the art of finding talent in unlikely places. Without that, we will be relying on the club to continue what Mislintat was doing, only without Mislintat. I’m not exactly thrilled by that prospect.

This report came from a reputable source first, which is the worrying part. Gazidis leaving was a bit of a shock to the system, but Mislintat would be the first real cause for concern.
