Arsenal: Sven Mislintat is WAY more important than we think

Some Arsenal fans are trying to put on the stoic face and act like Sven Mislintat leaving wouldn’t a big deal. I’m all about optimism, but this is different.

If Arsenal are going to progress into the next era, they have to start finding more solidity somewhere. For awhile there, the solidity was found behind the curtain, with the growing brain trust full of people we know and trust – Raul Sanllehi, the Barca man; Sven Mislintat, Diamond Eye.

We’ve got, in that, two guys that know talent, one that knows talent and money in combination, one that knows talent without the need of money. You tell me, which one is more important to a club without money?

Raul Sanllehi is an excellent guy to have in charge. That is no doubting that. I trust him completely because of what he accomplished at Barcelona, but there’s no hiding the fact that, along with the excellent academy that Barca runs, they also have plenty of money (and prestige) to essentially get anyone they want.

Arsenal don’t have that. They have the prestige, sure, not as big as Barca’s, but big nonetheless, but they don’t have the money to buy someone like Ousmane Dembele and still have a smidgen of change left over to fix the other problems.

Sanllehi has more power at the club, obviously, so that has to be taken into consideration too, but if you’re going to pit him against Mislintat, as the rumors seem to be doing, you have to take into consideration that all of our recent solutions come from him.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Aubameyang – Mislintat.

Sokratis – Mislintat.

Guendouzi – Mislintat.

Torreira – Mislintat.

Mavropanos – Mislintat.

That encompasses so much of the fixes that the club needed, and they are doing a fantastic job at actually being fixes. Meaning that, with all the fixes that are yet to come, I want Mislintat in charge of finding the right players and no one else.

So stop acting like he isn’t a big deal because he’s “only a scout.” This scout has been the eye behind the repairs already in place and is the eye we want behind the rest of the replacements. Look at how fixing the problem went before Mislintat. Remember Sanogo? That was solid. Mustafi? Also flimsy. Ozil? Yeah, I went there. Alexis?

Big time solutions don’t need big time names or price tags, they need big time knowledge, and Mislintat has that. It will be terrible if he leaves the club. Terrible.
