Mesut Ozil has become one of the main talking points at Arsenal. He’s good at winging it off the field, but can he wing it on the grass if it mattered?

Speculation is continuing over Mesut Ozil’s future at Arsenal with rumours flying around social media suggesting that he could possibly be departing.

The tension has escalated further in regards to Unai Emery’s concerns about Ozil’s motivation and the media doesn’t help anything when they seem to over-exaggerate the complexity of the situation or any situations that go on at this club.

I have to say that I’m not too concerned if he (Ozil) leaves. Let’s face it, it would save us a lot of money and could even possibly help us fill the areas we need most dividing his current £350k per week salary between a couple of decent players.

But it sounds like Ozil doesn’t want to leave the Gunners and I can only assume that it’s because of the large over-paying weekly wage he’s getting.

Since Ozil signed for the Gunners back in 2013, I’ve never had too much love for the German. Yes, he is a fantastic footballer, but I’ve always felt that there is something about him that I just could not place my finger on.

Ozil to me is pretty much like marmite, you either love him or hate him. But I’d say hate is going a bit too far. I don’t dislike the guy, but he does enough to make me want to shake him.

When Arsene Wenger was in charge, I felt like Ozil just did what he wanted. He was like a spoiled little brat getting his way. He took whatever time off he wanted. Pulled sickies and disguised them as injuries. Wenger fathered him too much.

Now that Wenger is out of the picture, I think Ozil is seeing how far he can push it with Unai Emery. And it seems to me that Emery is no pushover.

No one can deny Mesut’s statistics, but his passion and attitude can be questioned.

Looking towards the near future seeing that Arsenal apparently have no available funds to purchase players, and observing everything, it looks like we’re even struggling to get anyone in on loan.

There are many positions we need to improve on especially in defence. But we also need a winger.

So sticking on the subject of Mesut Ozil, when Arsene Wenger had too many attacking midfield options, he used Ozil as a winger.

Okay, he plays better through the middle, that goes without saying, but if it is an option to do so, why not use him on the wing? I’m not saying play him there every game, but we can at least utilise our options temporarily.

Playing players out of position isn’t really ideal, but with Ozil’s weekly wage, and the likelihood of him staying as the wealthiest player at Arsenal, I would expect him to be able to play as a goalkeeper if we needed him to.
