Arsenal have confirmed Sven Mislintat will be leaving the club. The departure has negatives along with positives; indecisiveness has finally left the party.

For the past few years, Arsenal football club has been given a lesson in why a club must be run in a ruthless, decisive and often times, merciless manner. Players are on ridiculously high wages, given what they provide on the pitch.

Not to mention, the scouting process within the club is clearly having some serious issues as well. Sven Mislintat and Raul Sanllehi have reportedly had multiple “spats” according to various sources and the club have confirmed the former Borussia Dortmund chief of scouting, that goes by the nickname, “Diamond-eye’s” will be parting ways with the reds of London.

Of course, losing a scout known for uncovering players such as Ousmane Demeble and an abundance of others is initially seen as a blow, but there a certainly a good amount of positives that can be associated with the Germans departure as well.

A Fresh Approach

What many fans fail to realize is that under former CEO Ivan Gazidis’s regime, the club scouted players in a similar manner to that of Mislintat. Known as the “Moneyball” form of scouting, Mislintat similarly assess the stats around a player to find out whether or not they would suit the style of the manager.

Sanllehi oppositely uses his many relationships and connections with various clubs to enquire about the availability of players. Neither form of scouting is right or wrong, but having two, “larger-than-life” personalities within the hierarchy of a club that would like to approach transfers in polar opposite ways from each other, is detrimental to the clubs well-being.

Mislintat’s Ambition is not matched by club owners

It is said that Mislintat was keen on the club signing players such as Roma’s Kostas Manolas as well as Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele. While these signings would be perfect for us, our board is not at all willing to sink that amount of money into the club.

Whereas Sanllehi has seemingly accepted the fact that 100% shareholder, Stan Kroenke will not inject any of his funds into the club, Mislintat was not able to comprehend this, and rightfully so.

Considering Arsenal are the 7th richest football club in the world, there should be an abundance of illustrious transfers coming in on a consistent basis, but there won’t be as long as Kroenke is the owner.

Mislintat is undoubtedly a world-class scout and knows what is best for Arsenal football club, however, unfortunately, his talents and “Diamond-eye” for a player will have been wasted if he was to continue working amongst a hierarchy that constricts his talent as well as ambition.

Sanllehi is seemingly doing the best with what situation he is in and is adapting to the restrictive and preposterously low transfer budget that the club has been handed buy it’s “penny-pinching” owner.

Sanllehi is what we need right now, Mislintat is merely what we want, and don’t forget, we’re Arsenal fans, we don’t usually  get what we want.
