3. He’s the type of player we need
It’s amazing how well Perisic fits the schematic. He’s a winger, with the usual winger qualities of being a great crosser and a good creator, but he can also play centrally, score goals. He is an aerial threat, which we can always use more of and he is a bullish player with a great work ethic that fits right in line with the new mood of the club.

But also, he’s the caliber player that we need. This isn’t a desperation, “anyone will do” kind of signing. This is a clear and apparent move for more quality.
Perisic holds the same name value as the likes of Ramsey, Ozil, Mkhitaryan, but unlike them, he is bringing in a fresh perspective, an Emery-esque player package, and a whole lot of exactly what we need. There have been matches this season where the attack has gone stale. There’s been no link-up between midfield and striker, which is unacceptable given the players we have on paper.
Perisic solves all that, and he solves it all in a big way.
This is the caliber player we need to be competing with top clubs. Perisic is a star, and just because he’s turning 30 doesn’t take that away from us. But, if you want to talk about age, let’s go on to No. 2.
