1. Remember Sokratis?

When Sokratis first arrived at the Emirates, a 30-year-old, out of favor defender, we were all griping. What was he actually going to solve? What could he actually do in the long term?

But guess what? Sokratis has been just as good, if not better than Lucas Torreira, in his own capacity. Sokratis has been a bright spot on a flimsy defense and, before getting injured, his partnership with Koscielny was shaping into something special. Something potentially reliable.

Now, you don’t hear anything negative said about Sokratis. And in the meantime, guess what else he brought? Grit. Wrestling ability. A toughness that has been missing from the club for ages.

Ivan Perisic brings all of that. Well, I can’t account for his wrestling, but Sokratis can brush him up. Perisic is that type of player, the Sokratis/Kolasinac type that will butt heads and not let other players run over them.

Can we have too much of that… ever? No, we can’t. It has an effect on the match, and we’ve seen that with Sokratis and Kolasinac too.

Perisic will cost more, obviously. But Perisic is also going to give us goals. So, in conclusion, shut up about age and wages and give Perisic a deal. We need him.
