Arsenal: Ivan Perisic would be a stroke of divine intervention
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal have been silent in January (because they’re broke, remember?) but Ivan Perisic would be an absolute dream come true if it happens.
The Orn has spoken, and Arsenal are talking with Inter Milan over a loan deal with an option to buy for Ivan Perisic. That should be all I have to say, celebrations should be had, and breath should be held as we wait the potential signing of someone who can actually make a difference.
But apparently some people don’t like the idea, solely because he is about to turn 30. Which is pure poppycock (pulling out the big gun words). Perisic is a clear an obvious solution to a clear and obvious problem.
No, he doesn’t fix the wage and age problem. Mkhitaryan and Ozil are both in the same age range and they’re rotting away on the bench. Which is fine, let them rot. If we can sell them in the summer, clear up their wages and let Perisic stay and replace them both – that would really help out the wage and age problem.
Perisic has always been a dream signing for Arsenal. He’s a hard-nosed, gritty aerial threat in addition to carrying all the traditional skills of a winger and attacking midfielder. How do you do better than that?

After seeing him in the World Cup, it was clear that this is one of those guys who will never take his foot off of the gas, no matter how old he gets. He’s a class talent, and the numbers back him up. He continually produces double-digit (damn near triple-digit) goal tallies and, believe it or not, the Gunners need that.
Because with Ozil on the outs, Ramsey leaving, Mkhitaryan struggling, and everyone else quite young, having someone like Perisic, gritty and bullish, to take control of the attacking midfield rather and see them into the future, is a fantastic, no-lose idea.
Besides, Sokratis is 30, and how many of you aren’t happy with the Sokratis signing. Perisic is like an attacking Sokratis. Very similar demeanors, very similar skill level.
Plus, let’s talk about wages. He’s on about £130,000 a week at Inter right now. Granted, that’s a hefty wage. But that’s not much higher than Ramsey and Mikhitaryan are making, and if we can ditch Ozil, then this conversation is moot anyway.
And if we can’t. If those players are stuck with us for another year (God help us), then hey, at least we only loaned Perisic, right?
