Central Midfield

CM. Arsenal. LUCAS TORREIRA. 7.2. I was really worried about this midfield without Granit Xhaka, but they actually did their job pretty well. Torreira was a solid mainstay in every midfield skirmish and he more often than not emerged victorious. he read the passing lanes well and when called upon to drive play forward, he did that quite well too. The problem in this match was not the deep midfield, it was what happened around them, because literally nothing was happening around them.

7.4. Man of the Match. Oddly similar to the first match of the season, where this man right here was arguably the only bright spot (although Koscielny was quite bright as well). Guendouzi was everywhere, but he was a composed everywhere. His driving bursts from deep in the midfield were one of the few things that continuously gave me hope. He made it look so easy, navigating through the City defense. There wasn’t ever much anything to do with it once he had it to the opposing danger zone, but he did his job, and he did it quite well.. CM. Arsenal. MATTEO GUENDOUZI
