Arsenal’s ability to create chances has absconded like a thief in the night. So now that we have Dens Suarez, he can start the investigation, right?

I’d put this Manchester City defeat right up there next to the West Ham defeat. Different caliber opponent, yes, but the same theme brought about the same result. Arsenal defended well enough, barring some pathetic individual mistakes, but overall – quite solid.

The midfield? Pristine. I was so pleasantly surprised by the Lucas Torreira/Matteo Guendouzi partnership and how they upheld their duties in the wake of Granit Xhaka‘s injury. And the strikers? Well, they didn’t have a damn thing to work with.

Which is what Denis Suarez should be scratching his head at right? How can a top six club walk into a second half that they have every right to be in, down just a goal, and not manufacture a single chance or a single shot on target?

Not a single one! Alex Iwobi – FLAT! Sead Kolasinac – well he was okay. Aaron Ramsey – stranded. And Denis Suarez? This was Denis Suarez’s first footsteps in the red and white and while it wasn’t exactly a positive debut, you’d have to be a serious jerk to start lambasting him already.

Rather, we should be begging him to save us. He just saw, first hand, why he is at this club, and why this club spent all month just trying to secure a loan move for him. It wasn’t for depth, or for sharts and giggles, it was because there are matches where they simply cannot create a chance.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

How is it that a club with Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can’t get a single shot in the second half? Hell, in the whole match, those two had only one shot combined and the team had just four.

Four!

We are a professional club with aspirations to win things and we procured a girthy four shots on target.

Are you watching, Denis? Are you? Because the sooner you can just create a single chance for this club, the sooner you can begin your path towards being a legend. The resources are all there for him – the strong midfield base, the world class strike team.

All we need is him to make what happened against Manchester City not happen again. I said it before and I’ll say it again – his task really shouldn’t be that hard. Just create two chances a game.
