Arsenal opened this one on the back foot, with Huddersfield taking the fight to them, but as the hosts weren’t able to take their chances, the visitors went ahead and did just that. The first came on a quick and lucky strike in the 15th minute, when an inch-perfect cross by Sead Kolasinac landed one Alex Iwobi‘s shooting foot and, one fortunate deflection later, it was 1-0.

All match, the theme was pretty much the same – through wide angles, the Gunners were dominating. Kolasinac and Iwobi on one side, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Ainsley Maitland-Niles on the other. They were relentless. It was the complete opposite of what we’re used to seeing.

The Terriers kept the pressure on the Gunners, but largely thanks to Laurent Koscielny, the threat was muffled.

Arsenal struck again just before half on fantastic combination play between Mkhitaryan, Maitland-Niles, and a fantastic, ruthless finish by Alexandre Lacazette.

The second half didn’t go the way you might have expected. Huddersfield played more inspired than they did in the first half, which is saying something because they were so determined throughout the 90 minutes. You could say they deserved the goal they got at the end, but this Arsenal defense shut off.
