Arsenal disappointingly lost to BATE Borisov in Belarus, but if you’re chanting “Emery Out” then you should be kicking your own arse.

Arsenal fans are infamously fickle, and in no way can you see that better than in the “Emery Out” bullsh*t going around the social media sphere following a dull 1-0 loss to BATE Borisov. First of all, regarding the match, does anybody actually think we aren’t going to win by two or more goals in the return leg at the Emirates?

That’s not the point though (even though it kind of is), the point is that Unai Emery is not your enemy, and anyone chanting “Emery Out” or hashtagging it on Twitter, should be treated to a good old-fashioned solo-arse-kicking for being one of those fans that demands instant gratification.

This is the Premier League. There is no instant gratification. Pep Guardiola didn’t instantly win at Manchester City. Jurgen Klopp didn’t instantly win at Liverpool. Antonio Conte did instantly win at Chelsea, and was subsequently run out of the club. And Jose Mourinho? HA!

Which part of this isn’t making sense to all you people moaning about Unai Emery? He’s been here about eight months now (not sure about the math, really don’t care) and what did you expect from him?

More from Pain in the Arsenal

For starters, he went 22-matches unbeaten, which probably did him more harm than good, because people anointed him the messiah, and then, a few short months later, also like the messiah, he’s being crucified.

And I’ll bet that if he goes another 22-matches unbeaten, these same “Emery Out!”-ers will be singing about how they’ve always loved him and wouldn’t want anyone else in charge, because that’s what people do when social media is a thing and they want attention, because that is all this could possibly be about.

Emery is the antithesis of Wenger in style alone. His approach to each match is deliberate and it is detailed. His approach to each player is pragmatic and unbiased. Wenger was different. But guess what? Emery has only been here for less than a year, and he has to learn as well, same as Arsene Wenger did, and Guardiola, and Klopp and… well, not Mourinho, Mourinho never learns.

What’s embarrassing isn’t the Mesut Ozil situation or the Aaron Ramsey situation (well, that kind of is). It’s the situation of fans already demanding that Emery be sacked. Kindly kick your own arses, you attention grabbers. It’s pathetic.
