Arsenal are apparently headed in a “frightening” direction in route to becoming a selling club. What’s actually frightening is the sheer pile of… rubbish.

I’ve had to come up with new, creative ways to cuss, since I find it hard restraining from cussing when it comes to the multitude of talking heads that keep saying things about Arsenal that make a developing situation sound like the end of the world.

But I have a bonus for all you readers, because this time, it doesn’t come to us from Charlie Nicholas! Honestly, when I saw the headline, I assumed it would be from ol’ Chuck, but turns out, it’s not. It’s from Steve Sidwell, and he is worried about the frightening direction the club is going in post-Aaron Ramsey.

I took Ramsey’s exit really hard. And yes, Sidwell is right, it was severe mismanagement after having just made the same mistake the previous January and it sucks. Aside from the rare arsehole who thinks that Ramsey is overrated or some b.s. like that, he was unanimously loved.

But Sidwell went on to expand that the Gunners are turning into a “selling club” and that’s what makes this all so frightening.

That’s simply not true. And no, not just because we didn’t actually sell Ramsey, but because if you look at the business of the club in recent years, we aren’t a seller. We were sellers in the dark ages of paying off the Emirates, but these days, we aren’t a feeder club, you aren’t sending our best players to better clubs.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Alexandre Lacazette? Still here. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang? Chose this club. Hector Bellerin? Not at Barcelona, is he? Granit Xhaka? Sorry, had to.

These players aren’t taking an upgrade to a bigger team, they are embedded in this top tier club and they aren’t lining up for a mass exodus to where they can win trophies more frequently than they currently can with the Gunners.

Look at the summer business. Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira? These are players that clearly belong at this level, and could have gone plenty of other places, Sokratis? Very similar. Believe it or not, these are players that should be at this level and they are here.

Go back even further than that. Even when we lost Alexis Sanchez, we got Henrikh Mkhitaryan in exchange. We aren’t selling players at all. And if we do, we get something in return. Ramsey is the exception, believe it or not, a crappy one that didn’t need to happen, but an exception nonetheless.

All that said, Arsenal really should be figuring out how to sell players better. That would be nice.
