Arsenal: I just want to see Bukayo Saka play again
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal have a monster in Bukayo Saka, and all I want is to see him play again, as he embodies all the things that we want out of a player.
Bukayo Saka hit the ground really hard and fast when he arrived with the Arsenal first team. After playing for a relatively tame 22 minutes against Vorskla, he went on to absolute dominate Qarabag for 90 minutes.
The numbers from that match are just sensational – eight completed dribbles, three shots on target, fouled five times and only dispossessed one time. Just once. Eight completed dribbles and only dispossessed once.
Now, I know that it’s “only Qarabag,” but Saka is also “only 17,” so call that a wash. What he showed us in that match was everything we didn’t currently have in the senior team – fast feet that aren’t wasteful, that have a directness to them, and that can really make things happen.
Ever since seeing him play, all I’ve wanted is to see him play more. I want to believe that he can be our solution, that he can amend our broken wings (yikes on that word choice) and, most importantly, that he can entertain us fans.

Yes, I realize that I can just tune into the Arsenal U23’s and watch Bukayo Saka play whenever I want, thanks for suggesting it. But that’s not the point. The point that I am currently holding onto is that Saka showcased so much immediate talent that I’m of the belief that if you trust him with a little more responsibility, he can handle it.
But I don’t want to go down that road. I will, however go down a different one. That the excitement over Saka is the real deal.
We have youth products popping up all the time. Jeff Reine-Adelaide was a sure thing, he was talented and the next star, but even at his best, he had his deficiencies within the side on an individual level. He didn’t pop quite like Saka does.
And that’s why I literally can’t wait. Each time we face up against a team that’s around the level of being a mid-table Ligue 1 side, I start wondering – is this the time we’ll get to see Saka again?
The crazy thing is, Reiss Nelson is arguably more ready, but I personally find Saka more entertaining. Maybe it’s just because every time he gets the ball, he plays like he is personally angry at the opposing defense.
