Arsenal travelled to France to face Rennes in the first leg of the Round of 16 of the Europa League. Here are the player ratings from the 3-1 loss.

Arsenal did what they do best on Thursday night. Throw it all away. After going one-goal up in the first few minutes thanks to Alex Iwobi and controlling the first half-hour, the Gunners proceded to not only let their led slip but also allow the tie to fall out of hand. Playing with ten men is difficult, of course, but they now face a mountainous task in the second leg.

Goalkeeper

7.5. Made some excellent saves in his return to the club he made his name at. Couldn’t do anything about either of the goals, especially the rasping first, but turned a couple of Hatem ben Arfa shots around the post and punched clear a tricky freekick in the first half. An experienced showing.. GK. Arsenal. PETR CECH
