Arsenal are in the market for a lot of things, but giving up a valuable commodity for a luxury item like Aaron Wan-Bissaka is not something to be in the market for.

There is a lot to like about Aaron Wan-Bissaka, obviously. When you’ve got nearly every team in the top six clamoring for you, it’s no secret that you’ve got a bit of talent. And of course, where talent is involved, Arsenal will be linked.

As such, they are linked to Aaron Wan-Bissaka, to pluck him away from Crystal Palace and give him fresh hope higher up the table. But for as talented as the lad is, what exactly would the Gunners do with him?

According to the most recent reports, not only are we interested in him, but we are also willing to give up either Reiss Nelson or Ainsley Maitland-Niles to pair with the cash money that would be paid to land his services.

Wan-Bissaka is a rightback the same age as Maitland-Niles, our rightback. So we are willing to give up a talented young rightback and cash for a talented young right back?

More from Pain in the Arsenal

And Nelson? Nelson plays the one position we don’t have. The young man has sputtered since his brilliant start at Hoffenheim, but that doesn’t discredit the gobs of potential that he has to be a solution to our wide attacking options, does it?

I wouldn’t want to give up either one of these players for Wan-Bissaka. There is literally no good side to any of this.

Either we mess with our rightback situation, which is actually in a really good situation, with Hector Bellerin and Maitland-Niles holding down the fort, or we give up the only winger prospect that currently has any hopes of making an impact on the first team at the start of next season.

Again – remind me where the good part is?

This isn’t to discredit Wan-Bissaka. He’s a fantastic player, and any club would be lucky to have him. But he plays a position that the Gunners have stocked good and well for the long haul, so what’s the motivation in giving up quality young talent for him?

The worry thing is that this rumor is hanging around. People are talking about it, some people like it, but honestly, I just don’t see it. And I see it even less now that we’re talking about a player and cash deal. None of that, please.
