Arsenal have been privy to a brand new style of management under Unai Emery, and if he gives Denis Suare a start, another statement will be made.

I’ve said this before, but I want to say it again before we start talking about Denis Suarez and why he should absolutely start against Newcastle – Unai Emery is brilliant because he carried on a lot of what Arsene Wenger did while also filling in the gaps that Arsene Wenger failed at doing. Arsenal are in good hands.

One such thing that Emery has done is not picking favorites, and that is my absolute favorite thing about him. Whoever is performing well gets rewarded by starting; anyone who isn’t performing gets put aside. It has nothing to do with personal feelings.

And it doesn’t have a lot to do with momentum either. If Emery were like Wenger in the sense that whatever worked last match has to work this match, then he wouldn’t even think about doing a lot of the things that he’s been doing.

But alas, that isn’t the case at all. he is quick to make changes and not fall into the easy way out of making tough decisions.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

With the Newcastle match approaching, Emery has pointed out that Denis Suarez is ready for the starting XI. It was a comment made more or less in passing, but after giving the Spaniard 90 minutes in Dubai during the lengthy lay-off, he now wanted to make it clear that he thinks Suarez is ready for more responsibility within the club.

And not a moment too soon, because we really do need to be figuring out if he is a viable solution going forward, and if he can be one of the players responsible for moving Emery further into his own era, where he is free from the influences left behind by Wenger.

All of the signings made last summer had Sven Mislintat written all over them, but it was Denis Suarez, the loan made in January, that was clearly an Emery deal, especially seeing as how it may well have been the killing blow that drove Mislintat out of the club for good.

That said, it falls on Emery to make his statement with Suarez. And what a statement he could make by starting Suarez ahead of Mesut Ozil or Henrikh Mkhitaryan, both of whom have been quite good lately.

It’s not about that though. It’s not about who’s been good lately, it’s about who is going to be good now.
