Central Midfield

Arsenal. MOHAMED ELNENY. 4.0. Offers almost nothing. In a midfield three, his energy and simplicity on the ball are extremely useful. But when playing in a pair, you need more from your central midfielders than just solid play. Elneny is a perfectly fine but horrifically limited player, and it showed here. Rightly substituted at half-time.. CM

The epitome of a headless chicken game, Guendouzi was all over the place. His passing was erratic, he hared into challenges, almost always outmanoeuvred by the excellent Andre Gomes, and positionally, he was all over the place, lacking any semblance of control or understanding. This was an unprepared 19-year-old handed too much responsibility.. CM. Arsenal. MATTEO GUENDOUZI. 3.0
