1. Result all that really matters

For all of the fallout from this performance, for the questions that will be asked and the criticisms that will be levelled, in the end, there is only one thing that matters, and that went Arsenal’s way.

At this stage in the season, points are the most precious of things, and the Gunners earned three of them here. That hauls them above Chelsea and Manchester United, into the top four with a game-in-hand over fifth-place Chelsea. They are also now only one point behind Spurs in third.

This victory hands Unai Emery and his players a terrific opportunity to find a top-four finish and Champions League qualification. With five games remaining, two of which come against lower-half teams at the Emirates, the Gunners are in a great position to end the season on a brilliant high.

Yes, there were major issues with the performance. And yes, significant improvements will need to be made in future matches. But this is a result to be celebrated, no matter how it came about.
