The letdown is out of the way, right? Arsenal lost to Crystal Palace at the Emirates, leaving them with nowhere to hide for the duration of the season. They have to take max points in this one unless they want to put hope in Manchester United and Chelsea to drop points as well.

That said, it’s not like the Gunners are stranded with nowhere left to turn. United and Chelsea still face plenty of tough fixtures moving forward, and dropped points are certainly not the end of the world.

However, it would certainly feel like it.

Arsenal still control their own fate, but they will only control their fate so long as they continue to take maximum points from matches such as these – away at Molineux.

It was always a bugaboo match, even going back weeks ago when we were plotting out path into the top four. Wolverhampton have played tough all season, especially at home, and the Gunners’ away form is notoriously shaky. They have two 1-0 away wins going into this match though, so maybe confidence is growing a bit.

Unai Emery rotated the squad against Crystal Palace to keep some key players fresh for this specific match, meaning that he should have his full compliment of players available for this vital trip, and as such, there’s no need to be cute. Just get business done.

I see Unai Emery going with a 3-4-2-1, reverting out of the usual 3-5-2 he’s been using, solely based on the result against Palace and the need to maybe change a little bit up.

So, with that in mind, let’s get into predicting this starting XI as best we can. We start in goal.

Keeper

No surprises. Bernd Leno has been a key figure for the Gunners in holding onto points in recent months and he is going to be tested against Wolverhampton. Thankfully, we have every reason to believe in his abilities and he will prove himself up to the task. Even better, he’ll have his first-choice defense ahead of him, which probably won’t involve Shkodran Mustafi.
