Back Three

With every word I type, I grow more and more nervous that Unai Emery will re-up on his faith in Mustafi and give him the start here. And who knows, maybe Mustafi will be extra dialed in after his mistake-ridden match.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

But probably not. Emery knows who his best defenders are and, thankfully, they’re all available here, which means that we should have full confidence on our back line’s ability to hold Wolves at bay. Because, as of yet, there hasn’t been a match where Laurent Koscielny and Sokratis have started together and the Gunners have been exposed.

It’s the perfect compliment, and with both available, so both will start.

And, for the first time, there is actually a question about who will be the left-sided centerback. I, for one, think that sticking Konstantinos Mavropanos in there would bear the fruit of having faith in him, but I doubt Emery is feeling the same. He’ll stick with Nacho Monreal and count on the Spaniard to be usual reliable self.

On to the wingbacks next.
