Arsenal travelled to Wolves on Wednesday night wanting a win to fuel their top-four hopes. Here are five things we learned from the 3-1 loss.

Well, that was dreadful. In one of the biggest moments of the season, after one of the worst performances of the season, Arsenal proceeded to entirely capitulate, losing 3-1 to Wolves and squandering yet another superb opportunity to take hold of a top-four position. The mentality of this squad has been questioned throughout the season, especially away from home, but now the quality should be called to criticism also. Not only was this lacklustre display, but it was a substandard one also.

5. Top four not done just yet

With a win on Wednesday night, Arsenal could have moved into fourth position, above Chelsea and just one point behind Spurs in third. Instead, they are now on the outside of the top four, one point behind the Blues and four behind Spurs, who have now likely confirmed a third successive season finishing about the Gunners.

And yet, despite the seeming world-ending losses to Crystal Palace and now Wolves in the past three days, Arsenal are not out of the top-four race just yet. There are still three games remaining, all of which for the Gunners are winnable, and Chelsea play Man. Utd. at the weekend.

Should Chelsea fail to win that match and Arsenal win out, they will finish in the top four. Now, do I actually expect them to win their remaining three matches? No, I do not, especially if they play as they did here. But it is not over yet. Just.
