Arsenal travelled to Wolves on Wednesday night wanting a win to fuel their top-four hopes. Here are the player ratings from the 3-1 loss.

You’d have thought that Arsenal would have been fired up to make things happen against Leicester City, to not get rolled over like they did at Molineux just a few days prior, but when Shkodran Mustafi got rolled out in the back four the starting XI, your thoughts wouldn’t have meant anything.

The first half went exactly like you’d have been expecting, only worse. They couldn’t keep the ball, they had zero presence in any area of play, and it looked like just a matter of time before the hosts scored and put this game to bed.

Thanks to some heroics from Bernd Leno, that didn’t come right away. But what did come right away were two idiotic yellow cards from Ainsley Maitland-Niles to earn himself an early exit. Frankly, I was so sick of watching at that point that maybe Maitland-Niles was too, and just wanted to go play some Fortnite.

And if you thought that was bad, we haven’t even gotten to the second half yet! Where the Gunners looked even more emasculated than they did in the first half, giving up two goals that showcased all of their problems, all balled into one.

The second, in particular, was a complete sham, the kind of goal that only this club could surrender.

Here are the player ratings, if you still want them.

Goalkeeper

8.7. MAN OF THE MATCH. If you had any doubts after after Wolves, let them be laid to rest. The only reason this was 0-0 at half. Made so many saves to keep this game in a spot where we could have some kind of confidence, even if it wasn’t much. Shame that he got stuck behind this defense. Oh, and that second goal wasn’t his fault. What do you do in that situation? It was a mess all around. Top stuff from Leno. And that’s about where the top stuff ends.. GK. Arsenal. BERND LENO
