Recent reports have emerged linking Arsenal’s talisman, Alexandre Lacazette with a move to Barcelona. For the sake of the club, this can NOT happen.

Alexandre Lacazette has had an absolutely phenomenal campaign, scoring 18 goals and bagging 12 assists in all competitions. The Frenchman rightfully won the “Arsenal player of the season” award for his  impressive contributions.

With a player of Lacazette’s ability, there is always bound to come a flurry of interested pursuers. FC Barcelona are the latest club to be linked with the versatile 27-year-old striker. The club must do everything in their power to keep the player at the club to avoid any backwards movement going into the future.

Why Barcelona are so keen on  Alexandre Lacazette

Barcelona is arguably the largest club in the world and La Liga Champions are always desperate to bring in more top-class players whenever they are able to. The clubs current striker, Luis Suarez, who has now been at the club for five-years, is starting to reach the closing stages of his career.

The 32-year-old Uruguayan has been  absolutely fantastic in his time with the club, but now, surely, they are looking for a new and fresh face.

Lacazette ticks every possible box that Barcelona would want ticked from a possible incoming player. The Frenchman is a phenomenal passer of the ball as well as being a clinical finisher. The price being mentioned is said to be in the vicinity of about £70m. Though this is merely a rumor at the moment, in today’s market that is an absolute steal, given the players vast capabilities.

Time for Arsenal to be a more difficult team to work with

More from Pain in the Arsenal

For too many years, the reds of London have seen our best players be pried out of our possession due to a lack of ambition, as well as a degree of incompetence from the board. With the new regime in place, it’s possible a new beginning has started and the club will be more capable of  keeping players that are in high-demand.

Furthermore, it would be nice if they also started signing players onto new deals before the final stages of their contracts approach. Lacazette can be the player to help the board prove they somewhat know what they’re doing and that we are not a “soft-touch” team.

He is an integral component of the side on the attacking end of the pitch, as well as in the dressing room. The Frenchman has established himself as a fan-favorite along with his “partner in crime,” Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The pair have seemingly brought some tranquility back to the fan base, which is incredibly important for the players and fans morale as well as the performances on the pitch.

With all of this being said, if Lacazette wants a move away and starts to create any disharmony within the dressing room, similar to the way Alexis Sanchez did towards the end of his tenure with the Gunners, the player must be sold to avoid any rifts between players.

However, Lacazette simply does not strike me as the type of player or person who would do this. The rumors remain merely rumors at the moment, but the club should probably step in if the possibility even arises slightly. Giving a player of Lacazette’s ability a new deal may not be such a bad idea in the long run. The player must be kept at all cost as long as it remains a beneficiary to the club.
