Arsenal need to be open-minded going into this summer transfer window, and that involves a lot of potential sales. Here’s the case for the sale of each player.

This Premier League season has ended on a piss-poor note for Arsenal, despite how promising it was at times. Just when you thought Unai Emery was going to see the Gunners into the promised land of the top four – a very open promised land, mind you – his club takes one point in four matches and is eliminated from contention.

It’s gross, it’s morbid, it’s barf-tastic. And now we have to ponder just who on this club is safe from the claw of the transfer window.

That’s what I want to talk about – who can/should be sold this summer and what we should expect to get out of them. Honestly, as it stands, there are only two players who I am absolutely, 100% in the “do not sell” category, and if you missed it, you can check them out here:

But everyone else can be and is fair game, and now I’d like to take you through each player on a case by case basis and explain why they can or should be sold. With each player, I’ll predict whether they will actually be sold or not, as well as offer my opinion on if they should be sold, while also providing the ideal transfer fee.

We will also obviously be skipping the players who will be out of contract.

Since we have no keepers to sell (Bernd Leno is on the strict, two-man “do not sell” list), we are going to start over at rightback, with Hector Bellerin

Hector Bellerin

Missing Hector Bellerin all year has been a serious pain in the arse, and it’s forced Ainsley Maitland-Niles to mature rather quickly which, thankfully, he has. But there’s no hiding that Bellerin will be such a welcomed presence when he comes back into the fray at Arsenal.

But that doesn’t mean he couldn’t be sold. In fact, he very well could, as he provides one of the highest potential transfer fees on the club and could fetch in excess of £50m if we play our cards right. We know that Barcelona have been poking around ever since he broke through and we know that they have unlimited funds, so no harm in seeing what can be done, right?

All that said, let’s face the facts:

Will we sell? No.
Should we sell? No.
Ideal transfer fee: £60m

Let’s stay in the right back family with Ainsley Maitland-Niles next.
