Henrikh Mkhitaryan

It just hasn’t worked out for him at Arsenal. And it’s a real shame, because there are times where you can just see how close Henrikh Mkhitaryan is to brilliance. He goes a month looking unstoppable, then falls off the pace and looks awful. This same inconsistency plagues the entire creative attack, however, so it’s not like Mkhitaryan is any different.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

And thankfully, he often times compensates with tremendous work rate and a refusal to quit. It’s not enough to retain him on the club, though if it did come down to Ozil or Mkhitaryan, I’d choose the latter.

But that’s the only reason I would consider keeping him. He needs to make way for long-term solutions that don’t have the “woe is me” bug embedded in their brains. It hasn’t spread into Mkhitaryan as much as it has in others, but he may be past the point of no return.

Plus, as far as raising money goes, his international reputation should buoy him in the marketplace just enough to fetch a pretty decent fee. At least I would hope so. Someone out there still believes that he can amount to his Dortmund self. Even if that lands him outside of the Premier League.

Will we sell? Yes.
Should we sell? Yes.
