Ainsley Maitland-Niles

Here was another guy who narrowly missed out on the “do not sell” list, simply because when I asked myself “why shouldn’t we sell him?” my best answers involved “cause I like him,” and “cause he’s talented.”

More from Pain in the Arsenal

But is he the kind of guy that Arsenal absolutely cannot live without?

No.

And that’s why he finds himself on this list, where I will make the case for selling him. It’s not a great case to make, but it revolves around the fact that he is young, incredibly athletic, and as versatile as they come.

He also didn’t establish himself as a must-have this year, but that likely comes down to the fact that he just wasn’t healthy enough to get into that category. It’s very likely that, in time, he would have. But with Bellerin coming back, Ainsley Maitland-Niles figures to be a rotational option again, and to boost the case to sell him, it must be said that his value has never been higher and, depending on how his career goes, it may never be higher again.

Will we sell? No.
Should we sell? No.
Ideal transfer fee: £20m

Let’s move on to the center of the defense now.
