Rob Holding

I honestly wonder how much of a difference Rob Holding would have made for Arsenal this year. And I don’t mean that in a bad way, but I don’t necessarily mean it in a good way either. The problem was that this was a year of reckoning for Holding. We were going to see him grow into the defender we needed him to be.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

When he went down for the year, all of that was put on hold. Now we can’t even count on that next year because he has to get back on his feet again and shake off the aches and pains of his lengthy injury.

That means that next year could be an absolute flop from Holding, leaving us hoping that, at 25 years old the following year, he will finally capitalize on his potential and start to become a Premier League caliber defender.

Sounds a lot like what we were hoping Mustafi to do as well. And while it’s at no fault of Holding’s, timing just doesn’t favor some people. And like I said about Sokratis, if we are going to invest in this defense, we can’t be filling up spots with players that might be good enough. We needed Holding to be ready yesterday.

I hate making the case to sell for some of these Arsenal players! Anyway. The truth:

Will we sell? No.
Should we sell? No.
Ideal transfer fee: £20m

Calum Chambers is next!
