Arsenal: Unai Emery perfect man to oversee forthcoming clear out
Arsenal reportedly want to recoup some funds in order to sign new players. A clear out appears necessary and Unai Emery is the perfect man to oversee it.
Unai Emery has now been in charge of Arsenal football club for almost an entire season. In his first year at the helm, the Spaniard has divided opinion with some of the tactical decisions he has made, as well as the treatment of many players that can be deemed as fan favorites within the squad.
It is no secret that the former Paris Saint Germain manager is not at all scared to make a big decision that he views as the correct one, even when the chips are down.
Furthermore, he has also stood by his controversial choices when it seemed like the majority of fans disagree with them. The club is in desperate need of major reconstruction, which most likely seems as though can only be achieved through a massive clear-out.
Emery is the perfect man to oversee the reported clear-out that is set to happen this summer, here is why.
Mercilessness appears to be Unai Emery’s forte
For the past several years, Arsenal, as well as our former manager Arsene Wenger, were heavily criticized for not being ruthless enough. Wenger especially, was known to give players far too many chances and often times it lead to the detriment of the team’s well-being.
On the contrary, Emery appears to be the polar-opposite. The Spanish manager has shown time and time again that he is more than willing to make a ruthless decision, even if the fans are absolutely opposed to it.

For example, the Mesut Ozil situation has shown that despite the German playmaker’s “cult-like” following, Emery is not afraid to drop him from the team altogether if he feels as though including him in the squad would hinder the teams chances of winning the match. The club has been crying out for a hard-hearted manager for years, and given the clubs current predicament, Emery is just the man for the job.
Emery has a point to prove
If one reflects and looks back at Emery’s time with PSG, it may appear that the Arsenal manager struggled to cope with players with “big personalities”. Emery seemed to struggle with many players, most notably being that of Neymar.
The Spanish manager reportedly had a number of rifts before he eventually parted ways with the Parisian club. He is surely desperate to prove a point and show that he is capable of managing such players, and that can massively benefit the club. Players such as Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have ridiculously high wages, given what they offer to the side, and Emery reportedly has both of those names at the top of the clear-out list.
Emery clearly wants to make some major changes going in to the summer which is a good thing considering how poorly the end of the 2018/2019 campaign has gone. A clear-out appears to be imminent and on the surface of things, Emery is seemingly the perfect man to lead the mass-selling spree.
The pressure is well and truly on now and it is the moment for the chosen one to stamp his authority into the team. Will he succumb to the pressure or thrive under it?
