Arsenal and Ryan Fraser: We know all about “good chances”
By Josh Sippie
There isn’t a lot of optimism floating about these days for Arsenal, but let me hit you with some right now: Ryan Fraser is a fantastic addition, and he’s coming.
I love transfer season. If nothing else, if gives us so much to talk about, so much of which is pointless, stupid, redundant, out of context or in other way worthless. Especially as far as Arsenal are concerned.
Here are are linked to Ryan Fraser, a mid-table player who has still managed to tickle to the top of the assist charts in the Premier League this year, yet plenty of fans will call him not good enough. Apparently it’s not good enough to be one of the top wide assisters in the world, just because of the club you play on.
Frankly, I don’t much like how much he flops, but I have to believe that Unai Emery is going to try to stomp that out. Anyway, I’m getting off track.
Part of the chatter has tried to make us believe that this move isn’t happening. Fraser has indicated that there is a “good chance” that he will stay at Bournemouth this summer.
Ha!

We know all about good chances, don’t we? So many times we’ve had players and managers tell us that they were deeply committed to the club, that they would see out their contract, that they would be here until the day they died, only for them to be sold mere weeks later.
The very fact that they are talking about the move at all, and about Fraser’s future at all, indicates that there is a good degree of uncertainty.
The funniest thing is that usually players will say that there’s “no chance” they’ll leave, or they’re “100% dedicated to the club,” which could conceivably leave no room for doubt – they’s staying, everyone is staying.
But in Fraser’s case, it isn’t even a great chance he will stay. Just a good one.
Meaning that the door is wide open to sign someone who would bolster the biggest weakness that this club has. And with the door being that wide open, there’s no excuse not to get it done. Chances are a lot of clubs of our caliber aren’t all that interested in giving Fraser a chance at the top level, but we absolutely can, and should.
Sign him up, ship out the dead weight, stamp out his flopping, everyone goes home happy.
