Arsenal don’t have a No. 10, and my only question to all the candidates out there is who the hell wouldn’t want that amazing opportunity?

There was a time when Arsene Wenger could flaunt himself in the transfer market as being a huge draw to come to Arsenal. He attracted all kinds of players just by being such a respected man in the world of football.

Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and more have cited Wenger as one of the primary reasons why they joined this club in the first place.

Without Wenger, we have to resort to other draws. Obviously the allure of playing at the Emirates is enough for some players. This is a club with tremendous history, and that is a culture that people want to be a part of. They’ve seen that this is a club that is here for the long run, and it’s an excellent stage to get on board.

But still, players want to know that they are landing at a club that will benefit their career for the long run. Not just on a team level, but also on an individual level.

This hits a chord for the vacant No. 10 position at Arsenal.

It still amazes me that between Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, neither was able to latch onto that role when you’re primary job is feeding two of the best strikers in the world in individuality, and the best striking pair in the world.

You’ve got one Golden Boot winner with 22 goals, and one clinical sniper who, in the void of any other creators, lead the team in assists. A No. 10 with any ability whatsoever would fit seamlessly into that situation and could stand for 15ish assists. Hell, if Ryan Fraser can do it at Bournemouth, why can’t someone do it with Aubameyang and Lacazette ahead of them?

Aaron Ramsey thrived when he had the job, and I have no doubt he would have finished with at least a share of the team lead in assists had he stayed healthy.

So you want to find a good No. 10? Well, show them what they’ll be working with. And they don’t even have to be a great No. 10, as long as they are consistent. Because a lot of what they experience on the job will make them great.
