Arsenal have a massive transfer window ahead of them, but even before the window has opened, the amount of names being bantered about is exciting.

Arsenal have a lot to do this summer. Part of what made this year so exciting was seeing how much of the Arsene Wenger crop Unai Emery could work with and the reality is… well, not much of it. Emery needs to build this team up in his image and in his ideals and that means cutting a lot of the dead weight that just doesn’t jive with his system.

It’s actually a disturbing amount of dead weight though, which leaves a lot of work to be done in selling them off and replacing them with more applicable names.

The good news is that, before the window even opens, there are so many names being bantered about. So many. And it’s a wonderful contrast to what we are used to seeing back when Wenger was in charge.

The thing with Wenger was that he was so specific and pinpointed that he would have his primary choice of players and nobody else. He only wanted the player he wanted and didn’t think too much about secondary choices.

And when Wenger did find secondary players, it was in moments of pure desperation and ended up landing us the likes of Lucas Perez and Kim Kallstrom.

But with Unai Emery and his bright future ahead, he is exploring all manner of options to solve this potential problem. There are new names emerging every day. Just off the top of my head, I’m losing track as I try to remember them all.

What, we have Hakim Ziyech, Walter Kannemann, Wiliam Saliba, Nicolas Pepe and that’s just off the top of my head. Numerous other names are bursting into the spectrum and setting up what figures to be a rip-roaring transfer window this summer.

Options. That’s the key here. There are so many options that are being pursued and they all fit within the realistic spectrum. We aren’t being tied to outlandish names or ridiculous fees, we are being tied to intelligent links with moderate transfer fees.

It’s a completely different feeling, going into this transfer window. Emery has had a lot of time to think this out, and he’s got a lot of ideas to help him along the way.
