1. Alexandre Lacazette

It’s a shame that the year had to end on such a sour note, but it doesn’t do much to tarnish what was a tremendous year from Alexandre Lacazette. The Frenchman led the team in assists and was second in goals only to our Golden Boot winning Aubameyang.

No one did more for Arsenal, and that was reflected by his Player of the Season award, which was really just a formality, because even at the turn of the calendar year, we all knew he was the guy to get the award.

Lacazette has come so far in his two years with the club, which is remarkable because even last year, he showed signs of being truly brilliant. This year was a culmination of it. His ability to navigate in space, his dynamism, not just in scoring goals, but in facilitating entire attacks, let us wondering just what Lacazette couldn’t do.

To which the answer is, well, pretty much nothing. The dude even defends.

It will be curious to see how many of these players are lopped off and sold from the picture, but suffice to say it will probably be a lot of them. Unai Emery has to put away the broom and take out the axe.
