17. Danny Welbeck

This is a tough one to write about simply because we saw so little of him, and that’s why his overall season rating is obviously… lacking.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Danny Welbeck had a fantastic opportunity here to be the third wheel to a dynamic striking pair. To come in late in matches and cherry-pick tired defenses with his tremendous speed and physicality. And we saw bits of that in midweek competitions as well. There is always so much optimism surrounding Welbeck that each time he takes the pitch, you just feel like you’re going to see something special.

This year was just another year lost to injury, and it’s lead to his no receiving a new contract from the club. He has had so much optimism done in by injuries in his time at the club that you really do have to ask what might have happened had he stayed healthy. Maybe we would have never needed Aubameyang at all.

Regardless, it’s another lost year, and that’s why he’s exiting the club, hoping for greener pastures somewhere else, somewhere where he can stay healthy and have a bigger impact for his next club.

All the best, Mr. Welbeck.

No. 16 is next.
