15. Alex Iwobi

Another man with a big separation in ratings between myself and Andy, Alex Iwobi still eked out Mkhitaryan (though I’m not entirely sure why).

More from Pain in the Arsenal

This was a year of huge promise for Alex Iwobi. He had a manager who truly appreciated that work rate, and to Iwobi’s credit, that was never an issue. He defended well on that left hand side and helped out Sead Kolasinac massively.

But he’s a guy that I still judge extra hard by the numbers. Just three goal and four assists, meaning he accounted for less goals than Ramsey and Mkhitaryan despite playing much more time and just as many goals as Ozil, who woefully underperformed.

That’s not good. When you’ve been at this level for several years, you really need to start delivering on end product and as of now, I’m just not sure Iwobi will ever get to that point. He’s still just as nervous around the opposition’s goal box than he was three years ago, if not moreso.

Significant improvements are needed. Emery doesn’t have the eternal faith that Wenger had. I would not be that surprised if he was sold this summer. If we can get the right price.

Andy (13), Josh (17)

Who’s ready for No. 14?!
