Mesut Ozi has made it clear that he wants to stay at Arsenal, but with this such an undesirable outcome, he has to have his security jilted.

It’s desperation time. Mesut Ozil has to be leave Arsenal, but if you buy into the rumors that have been circulating, Ozil is so intent on staying that he turned down two moves – one to PSG and one to China.

While I don’t blame him for turning down China, turning down PSG is the move that has me believing that Ozil has all the power in this relationship. That being the case, though, the club is not powerless, and they have to act in order to ensure that Ozil’s bed of security here in North London is jilted.

I hate to have to be talking about this, because there isn’t a single Arsenal fan, beyond the deranged, who would wish ill on any of these players, but if Ozil does force a stay, then he has to be punished for it. And by that, I mean he can’t play. Plain and simple.

To make it “more fair,” it should be made perfectly clear this summer that this is what awaits him if he stays. It sounds disrespectful. It sounds underhanded. But by giving him a warning, we can ensure that he has no complaints.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

This club can’t move forward with him leeching those massive wages while giving us nothing in return. Literally, nothing. Unai Emery gave him all year to prove that he had some merit at the club, some hope for improvement, but after failing all season, the capstone was his pallid performance against Chelsea in the Europa League final that was simply an encapsulation of everything he has become at this club.

Like I said, it’s desperation time. You never want to have to pull out these kinds of stops on your own players, especially players who are as good-hearted and talented as Ozil, but you have to put the needs of the team in front of the needs of an individual player. He has to understand the problem he is causing this club and if he doesn’t?

Well, then we have more important things to talk about.

Ozil has to go. Even if he stays, he has to go. Send him to the reserves, send him to the stands. I would rather pay him all that money to sit then pay him all that money to waste a spot in the first team. It’s over.
