Aaron Ramsey – 7.5

There were some who questioned the level of club Aaron Ramsey would be able to attract when his contract expired at the end of the season. The fact that he is going to Juventus with the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona sniffing around him is a testament to his true quality, even if not all can see it. And this season, he played at or close to his best for much of the year.

Perhaps the best way to illustrate how well Ramsey played this year is to show how poorly Arsenal played without him. Ramsey pulled his hamstring in the second leg of the Europa League quarter-final against Napoli. Arsenal would lose their next three matches, win just one of their remaining league games, falling out of the top four in the process, and find themselves humiliated in the Europa League final.

A key reason for their misery late in the season was a lack of legs in the midfield, something that Welshman is known for. He also scored six goals and added seven assists in league and Europa League play, not exactly a bad return for a player who played fewer than 2000 minutes. He will be sorely missed.
