Danny Welbeck – 6

Oh,3 Danny Welbeck. You just cannot stay fit, can you? This was a freak accident, a nasty challenge that landed badly on his ankle in early November. There is nothing that he or anyone could do to prevent it. Sadly, in sport, these injuries happen. But it was certainly a shame to see an individual who has dealt with so many serious injury problems in the past lose yet another year to his body.

Prior to shattering his ankle, Welbeck was enjoying a fairly successful season. Clearly third in line at the centre-forward position, he had still managed to notch three goals, was leading the line admirably in the Europa League, and provided excellent cover in the wide positions as well, his versatility being a key asset of his.

Sadly, though, this is the last we will see of Welbeck in an Arsenal shirt. His contract expires this summer and Emery confirmed that the club would not be offering him a new deal. Let’s hope that he can complete his recovery and come back to playing soon.
