Stephan Lichtsteiner – 4

If it wasn’t for Denis Suarez, Stephan Lichtsteiner would be considered the worst signing that Arsenal made this season. And it would not even be close. Given that the expectations were low to begin with as he was signed for nothing, that really tells you how poor his performances were.

Lichtsteiner actually started quite positively. His leadership and fighting spirit was especially pleasing to see, but for all of his benefits in character, it was his physical shortcomings that continually let him — and Arsenal, as a result — down.

The performance against Manchester City and Raheem Sterling was the perfect illustration of Lichsteiner’s shortcomings. Incidentally, Emery hardly trusted him after that, relegating him even below Carl Jenkinson in the pecking order.
